The 9" shelf is nice and sturdy. Kind of no frills--doesn't have cable management. The caps are a bit chinsy but serve the purpose. The positioning of the support beams can be an issue depending on your setup because the beams aren't at the corners, but rather more centrally located (see pics). This can interfere with wiring, or if you want to put a center channel speaker on the shelf it can block the drivers.
