Criteria: Awarded to any service member who served more than thirty consecutive days, or 60 non-consecutive days, in the Republic of Vietnam between the dates of 1961-11-15 and 1973-03-28, and from 29 April 1975 to 30 April 1975 . Criteria: A decoration of South Vietnam issued between the years of 1950 and 1974. Awarded to any U.S. military service member who performed an act of outstanding meritorious service to the Vietnamese State.

Criteria: Awarded for combat service or support in South Vietnam for a period of six months or more between March 1, 1961 to March 28, 1973. May also be awarded for less than six months of service if the service member is captured, wounded, or killed in action during the above period or if the service member was still assigned in Vietnam on March 28, 1973 and served over 60 days.
