Too Big to Fail, Andrew Ross Sorkin
December 12, 2009: This is a wonderful examination of the end of the storied history of traditional Wall Street firms, and the near-collapse of our moneycenter banks. Rich in detail, finely written, it is a must read on the recent financial trouble, and the heroic efforts of Paulson, Bernanke, and Geithner to stop the bleeding. One (mild) criticism of the story is that the sheer number of individuals involved in decisions, meetings, negotiations, &tc. seems to overwhelm the story arc.

onara was never imagined as an industrial rock act, or a punk band, or a metal outfit. A dabbling in ska or funk, pop, dance or even cumbia allows onara to sidestep any pigeonhole and become something larger than any single genre can contain. Whatever sound fits the song is fair game. A reviewer for Las Vegas Weekly called onara’s first album “one of the most manic CDs ever recorded.” With the release of its second album, onara has created an even more eclectic collection of songs that may well...

Too Big to Fail: Policies and Practices in Government Bailouts
Usually associated with large bank failures, the phrase "too big to fail," which is a particular form of government bailout, actually applies to a wide range of industries, as this volume makes clear. Examples range from Chrysler to Lockheed Aircraft and from New York City to Penn Central Railroad. Generally speaking, when a corporation, an organization, or an industry sector is considered by the government to be too important to the overall health of the economy, it will not be allowed to fail.
