The Thermapen thermometer is a fast thermometer due to the technology as compared to a cheaper thermometer: Thermocouple is the technology. We have a few more recent alternatives to the Thermapen that we prefer, including thermocouple thermometers that are either water-resistant (this Thermapen isn't), water proof , and a better value to boot!
