June 22, 2009: I love this movie. The story and characters are amazing but the setting is even more spectacular. I still get goosebumps watching a couple of the scenes and they are totally inspiring. However, I was disappointed that this edition does not contain the original scene version. It only has the director's cut. Which while interesting does not provide the same feeling that I remember from before. We were upgrading our VHS collection and we'll have to get a different edition of...

This British aggregation might be the most unlikely "supergroup" to emerge in recent years, what with members hailing from such diverse environs as the Clash , the Verve , and Blur and the Gorillaz . Surprisingly enough, the quartet really sound very little like any of their progenitors, concentrating instead on dark, minimal grooves that conjure up images of a world gone horribly wrong. That probably has as much to do with frontman Damon Albarn 's litany of war allegories -- the topic looms large...

The full-blown rock opera about a deaf, dumb, and blind boy that launched the band to international superstardom, written almost entirely by Pete Townshend. Hailed as a breakthrough upon its release, its critical standing has diminished somewhat in the ensuing decades, because of the occasional pretensions of the concept and the insubstantial nature of some of the songs that functioned as little more than devices to advance the rather sketchy plot. Nonetheless, the double album has many excellent...

Recent years have seen Nicolas Cage starring in several flamboyant action movies, but this versatile actor generally does his best work when interpreting complex, eccentric characters. In Matchstick Men, he plays a real doozy: con man Roy Waller, one of the slickest in the game, despite the fact that he’s a walking bundle of obsessive-compulsive disorders. He doesn’t like surprises, so you can imagine his initial reaction to Angela ( Alison Lohman ), the teenage girl who shows up on his doorstep...
