Overall it's a good jacket with nice amount of pocket space and hood. I wore it in Iceland and it was great for the wind and water. I agree that it is not the warmest jacket, and in 40 degree windy weather I had to wear an additional jacket and vest to keep warm. The medium is really a size large, so if you order a size as you normally would, it would have plenty of room to layer. If you want it to fit appropriately, go down one size.
