Steeped in history, the original bed was purchased in 1861 by Mary Todd Lincoln as part of her refurbishing of the executive mansion. Although Abraham Lincoln never actually slept in the bed, several other Presidents did, including Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. In 1902, the President's personal office became the Lincoln Bedroom and home to the historic bed. It remains the only room in the White House dedicated to a single President.

The Lincoln Museum Quilt: A Reproduction for Abes Frontier Family
On February 8, 2008, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois, accepted a quilt to be put on display on Lincoln's bed from Barbara Brackman and Deb Rowden. This quilt is made of fabrics from Lincoln's time, and the pieced patterns are of the era too. This book celebrates that quilt with historical information about Abraham Lincoln and quilting during that time period. Full instructions and templates are given to make the Abraham Lincoln quilt.
