These Colorful, Oh-So-Smooth, ceramic beads are handmade at a women's project near the Kenya mountains. The clay is trucked and then placed in a water-extractor. They then take the clay and shape every bead by hand - a stick is poked into each bead to form the hole. The "Greenware" beads are then fired and the resulting "bisque" beads are painted using different colors sometimes five at a time on one bead. The beads are fired again than electric kiln.
