I registered for these teethers and received them at my shower a few days ago. When I got home I opened the package and they smelled so awful!!! I hand washed (scrubbed) them and the smell was still there. I threw them into the dishwasher and they came out just as smelly as before. It's not a light smell - smells like strong plasticy chemicals. So gross. I can't imagine letting any child put these in their mouth - no willing adult would with that smell. Even if the smell were to eventually fade before...
