Old Hickory Lake is a man-made lake in north central Tennessee. It is formed by the Old Hickory Lock and Dam, located on the Cumberland River at mile 216.2 in Sumner and Davidson Counties, approximately 25 miles upstream from Nashville. The city of Hendersonville is situated on the northern shoreline of the lake, and the city of Old Hickory is located on the southern side of the lake.

Chattanooga is located at the juncture of Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia, in a valley in southeastern Tennessee between the Appalachian and the Cumberland mountain ranges. The city lies on both banks of the Tennessee River at Moccasin Bend and is bordered by Signal Mountain on the north and Lookout Mountain to the south, with Missionary Ridge running through the eastern section of the city.

Created by a the Army Corps of Engineers in 1948, the lake was built for electricity production and flood control of the Caney Fork River. Center Hill Lake is a 64 mile long reservoir consisting of 415 miles of shoreline, and 18,200 acres of water.
