Sesti, Brunello di Montalcino
"Smoke, tar, licorice, grilled herbs and wild cherries flow from Sesti’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino. This is an especially dense, full-bodied wine that shows off remarkable depth and richness in its endless layers of fruit. The finish is sweet and long. This, too, is another wine that will require patience, but it is a gem. Biodynamic farming and traditional winemaking - with all operations undertaken according the lunar calendar - are at the heart of proprietor Giuseppe Sesti’s approach. Based...

Brunello di Montalcino
Ruby red color with slight garnet hues resulting from four years of aging; the nose offers an intense and persistent perfume, with notes of red-fruit jam; on the palate the wine is smooth and velvety with evenly balanced tannins, intense and persistent with spicy notes and a hint of liquorice; harmonious and elegant on the whole.

ColdiSole Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2003 (Italy)
The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino from Coldisole offers lovely density and weight on the palate in a fat, rich expression of ripe dark fruit, chocolate, scorched earth and toasted oak. It is a backward wine that ideally needs another year or so in bottle or a few hours of aeration to allow the tannins to soften a little. It saw three years of aging in French oak, which gives the wine its roundness but also adds a touch of dryness to the tannins, particularly on the close. Still, it is a delicious,...

The regular bottling of the 1999 Brunello di Montalcino demonstrates just how good this vintage is in its sweet and spicy aromas of raspberries and plums, its rich and concentrated flavors, its velvety texture, and its powerful and persistent finish.

This drinks more like a modern interpretation of Brunello. But Camigliano is making this in a classical style. There is just plenty of juicy and plush fruit you might think this estate was using small French oak barrels. In reality they make this with the larger oak barrels. A lot of extraction leads to the deep rich color and the rich, chewy palate.

Pulpy fruit comes to the fore in the attack, with tannins that are expressive but not invasive; they ably balance a nice vein of crisp acidity that makes the flavours sing. The long-lingering finale flaunts a rich mosaic of nuanced flavours.

The "Vigna del Fiore" is an unique vineyard: its 14 acres ( 5.7 hectares) are situated in an area where the vine is cultivated since the XVI century. It is one of the southern vineyard in the whole area of Brunello di Montalcino and one of the oldest. The particular exposition and composition of the soil give to this Brunello special qualities, with a very elegant bouquet and an harmonic and complex taste.

2004 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino
The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is simply awesome in the way it marries a gorgeous expression of ripe, dark fruit and a classic sense of structure. A rich, enveloping wine, it flows onto the palate with masses of black cherries, minerals, spices, tar, new leather and smoke. This is an exceptionally well-balanced and finessed Brunello full of character. The tannins remain rather firm but there is enough sheer density of fruit that opening a bottle on the young side is still likely to be rewarding...

- Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes from a specific clone called "Brunello" in the town of Montalcino. Situated in the southwestern part of Tuscany the town of Montalcino sits on a ridge about 400 feet above the Eastern plain. This ridge divides the region into three diverse growing areas. The northeastern part produces wines with brighter fruit, more cherry and high tone notes and somewhat leaner body. The southeastern portion often referred to, as the "Golden Triangle" is the home of Biondi Santi...
