Some of you may remember a delicious, crowd pleasing Cabernet known simply as "Root 1" from Chile's Colchagua Valley. The 2005 vintage of Root 1 was one of the most well received Cabs under $10 that we have ever sold. We were unable to secure very much of the '06 vintage, and the '07 simply was not quite as compelling a value. As a result, both 2007 and 2008 vintages were available from our wholesaler, and when we tasted the '08, we loved it. So we made an offer to buy a very large quantity, and...

Parker Review: "The outstanding dark ruby-colored 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits root beer, caramel, black cherry, clove, juniper, and jammy blackberry aromas. This sweet, candied, plump, plush effort is loaded with blackberries, spice, and an assortment of sweet, dark fruits. Sultry, opulent, and highly concentrated..."

Screaming Eagle is a success story almost without equal and is the definitive "cult" classic of Napa. Founded in 1989 by Jean Philips, it "captures the essence of one great Cabernet site in Oakville." Growing mostly Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc on its little plot of land, Screaming Eagle produces an averages of 500 cases per year. The majority of that is sold only to members on the... Located between the massive Andes Mountains and the low coastal mountains of the Pacific Ocean, the warm and dry vineyards of El Suspiro are world-renowned for producing outstanding red wines with rich color, full body and varietal character. The steep rock soil maintains moisture for the vines during the intense summer heat while the coastal mountains temper the cool maritime influences of the Pacific.

Roots Run Deep 2006 "Educated Guess" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Garnet with a clear rim. The nose is simple, but varietally correct, with cassis and spearmint notes. A lighter style of Cabernet, but very juicy, with cassis fruit and that spearmint note running through it. Soft and emminently drinkable now.

Spectator Review: "A nice balance between ripe plum, cherry, herb and cedary oak; harmonious and supple. Turns complex and elegant on the finish, where flavors fold together cleanly..."
