Rod Strong recognized the Alexander Valley as an ideal place to grow cabernet sauvignon as far back as 1971, when he planted our first cabernet vineyard, the Alexander’s Crown. We are especially proud of our estate vineyards, which we farm meticulously, matching grape variety to soil and climate, and selecting our harvest dates with great care.

Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 750ml
There are few places better suited for Cabernet Sauvignon than the Alexander Valley, which is why its become our signature wine Warm summer days tempered by morning coastal fogs combine to help create a refined Cabernet that is at once approachable upon release, yet with the fortitude to develop with timeThis wine is the result of a roller coaster year that meant smaller yields than we experienced the previous year Yet it also brought a wine with richer colors and better balanceIn the glass, the Estate Cabernet displays big aromas of black cherry, cassis, cocoa powder and plum and flavors of cassis, black cherry and plum along with soft, integrated tannins This is certainly a great wine to serve with beef, whether braised short ribs or a Tuscan steak rubbed with olive oil and rosemary Wine CALIFORNIA STILL WINE

- Second in fame only to Napa, this "other" valley offers just about every climate and topography imaginable. From its cool and fog-enshrouded coastal regions on the far west, to the sprawling Alexander Valley on the boarder of Napa and the many little dips and peaks in between, Sonoma has been a vital wine-grape-growing region since the mid 1800s. Important sub-AVAs include Chalk Hill (known for chardonnay and sauvignon blanc), Dry Creek Valley (where zin is king) Knights Valley (largely cabernet...

ITALY - NORTHWEST Fresh concentrate of tart black cherry juice. That's dolcetto! Very bright. Well concentrated young dolcetto. Great form. With airing, the cherry fruit turns sweeter, riper. And plum, smoke, and cedar emerge./ Well, just when I thought a had a good, old-time, early-drinking dolcetto, the palate says sorry about that. Tannin-extract grip, toughness. It's fine grained tannin though. And the acidity is good and harmonious. The wine has a cool elegance to it. But the palate has not...

"A very nice Cabernet, with a rich vein of tannins that gives it a crunchy texture, and forward black currant, cherry, and plum flavors that are as juicy as they come...It feels upscale and plush in the mouth, and gets better as it warms in the glass. - Although technically part of Sonoma Valley, the Alexander Valley AVA acts as a gateway to neighboring Napa to the east and Mendocino to the north. It is a sprawling appellation, with pockets of distinct microclimates and soils, and as such, is home to variety of wine grapes and styles. Nearly everything grows in the Alexander Valley, though cabernet and chardonnay are the most widely planted grapes. The Russian River Valley lies to the west of Alexander Valley, and is marked by much cooler temperatures...
