2004 Roberto Voerzio Barolo la Serra

Description: The 2004 Barolo La Serra reveals a generous personality in its dark red fruit with notable depth and richness that carries through to the persistent, sweet finish. With air, floral notes develop to round out this particularly multi-dimensional, full-bodied and beautiful La Serra. 2004 is a great vintage for this wine, which can sometimes be austere. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Roberto Voerzio Barolo La Serra DOCG

Ruby-red in color, on the nose it offers suggestive notes of tobacco, blackberry, mocha and spices, with hints of dried fruits. Fat, super-ripe, rich and chewy in the mouth with liqueur-like red currant flavors complicated by minerals, cedar, leather and black spices. The finish is big, with polished tannins framing a solid and massive structure. The most concetrated and richest of Roberto Voerzio’s Barolos. Excellent with rich meat fare and aged cheeses.

"This is really seductive on the nose, with Indian spices, blackberries, plums and cedar. Turns to flowers. Full-bodied, with layers of gorgeous ripe tannins and loads of ripe fruit. Yet goes on and on. Wonderful balance. This is better than the 1997. Best after 2010. 440 cases made. 98 points, The Wine Spectator."

2001 Roberto Voerzio Barolo La Serra

Wine Spectator : Intense aromas of blackberries, minerals and cedar, with hints of cigar box. Full-bodied, with a dense tannin structure and rich palate of fruit and minerals. Tight and condensed. This needs lots of bottle age. Tannic. This is built like a brick house. Very powerful for La Serra. Best after 2008. 400 cases made. (JS)

Roberto Voerzio Barolo La Serra DOCG 2001

"Wow, what a delicious, excellent value! A modern-styled concoction of 40% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon boasting loads of soul and personality, this elegant, deep ruby/purple-colored effort exhibits plenty of crunchy delicious, black currant and cherry fruit, smoky, spicy characteristics, a hint of new wood, and loads of charm and texture. It will offer a hedonistic, seductive mouthful of wine over the next several years."
