Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Polished but assertive, this wine delivers its delicious impact in a velvet glove. The wine’s deep, dark color signals the density of its flavors and opulent texture. In the nose, ripe black fruit aromas merge with hints of cedar, black licorice and a pinch of nutmeg and clove. In the mouth, the wine has a silky entry. Dense, fleshy flavors of blackberry, black plum and cassis envelop the mid-palate, enhanced by elegantly powerful tannins. The rich finish lasts forever. A freshly youthful wine with...

"The stylish, elegant 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve (8,300 cases of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) is not as dense as either the M-Bar or Vine Hill Ranch cuvee, but it offers a beautiful marriage of power and elegance. Cedar wood, creme de cassis, spice box, and dried herb aromas soar from the glass of this medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant Private Reserve, which is somewhat reminiscent of Mondavis 1978. Its all...

Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
"The dense ruby/purple-hued 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserves big, sweet nose reveals aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, cedar, and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, restrained, and made in a distinctively Bordeaux style, it possesses admirable purity, texture, and length. It is delicate and poised as opposed to flamboyant, and should age easily for 15-18 years." -Robert Parker 90+ Points

Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 750ml
Powerful tannins are chewy and generous, and beautifully balanced by the wine’s equally dense flavors of black fruits—blackberry, black cherry, boysenberry and crème de cassis. Vibrant and alive with fresh acidity, the 2005 Reserve is a powerful wine that carries its considerable muscle with elegance and style.

The best Reserve offering since 1994 is the 2001 Ca bernet Sauvignon Reserve, a 13,000-case blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec and Petit Verdot. Half of the fruit emerges from the To-Kalon Vineyard. It possesses a pH of 3.7, and the alcohol is over 14%. Reminiscent of such vintages as 1990, 1991, and 1994, it boasts a saturated purple color as well as a sumptuous perfume of white chocolate, flowers, black currants, blackberries, and cigar smoke. Powerful, rich, and...

Dalraddy Vineyard Zinfandel shows dense, black, concentrated fruit with ripe, jammy, blackberry, and dark plum fruit flavors. The soft, well-structured tannins and mellow oak undertones balance the concentrated fruit giving the wine the richness, power and concentration we expect from this vineyard. Varietal Composition: 100% zinfandel

"This is a very fine, high level Cabernet that shows the impeccable nature of Mondavi Reserve. Yet its also very tannic and far from being drinkable. Shows a vast repository of black currant, blackberry, black cherry and new oak flavors wrapped into a smooth, velvety mouthfeel whose finish goes on forever. Masculine and authoritative, it should continue to improve for many years. Drink now, with decanting, and through 2017, at least." 94 points - Wine Enthusiast, December 31, 2008

Bright ruby-red. Complex, sweet nose combines black cherry, blackcurrant, gravel, licorice and graphite. Silky, minerally and sweet, with terrific intensity and thrust, not to mention inner-mouth energy. Finishes with a firm spine of ripe tannins and very persistent, mouthcoating fruits and minerals. This is a full 15.3% alcohol but I never would have guessed it. Interestingly, associate winemaker Gonzalez told me he particularly likes the power of the 2003 reds here, "especially in their youth....

- America's most famous wine region, which encompasses a varied geographical territory running about 20 miles long from the San Francisco Bay northward to the foot of Mount St. Helena. Napa's great diversity, both in terms of climate and terroir, has led to the creation of a number of smaller AVAs like Stags Leap District, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, Oakville and Mount Veeder, among others. Cabernet and chardonnay still reign supreme, but just about everything under the sun is grown in Napa Valley...

Dark, slightly hazy ruby color with an amber edge. Beautiful sweet cassis aroma with pleasant menthol and leathery notes. The nose is so delicious that the flavor comes almost as a disappointment; black fruit and light tannins, it's satisfactory but not as exciting as the nose's promise.

A classic wine from an iconic winery. All the turmoil of the past few years at Robert Mondavi Winery has yet to affect the quality of the wines. In fact, one might argue, this is one of the greatest wines every made at Mondavi. Robert Parker loved it and gave it a superlative review. A chewy, big wine, yet with a round, silky, plush texture that makes it sexy and firm all at once. At 14.5% alcohol, the wine is very ripe, and the appearance is rich, dark and viscous with a tannic finish. A flash of...

Napa Valley’s 2006 vintage began with a wet winter that extended into spring, delivering more than twice the average rainfall for March and nearly four times the April average. The precipitation delayed bloom, but once the skies cleared, the vines had good fruit set and progressed slowly and steadily through slightly warmer than usual June weather. In July, a brief hot spell of four consecutive days over 100°F had the effect of putting the vines “on hold” before ripening continued when mild weather...
