The Megalodon definitely does perform well where it promises...it delivers great 2.0 audio where there is mono or stereo sound, and excellent 7.1 sound from 5.1 or 7.1 sources...of course playing 2.0 or less in 7.1 mode will cause it to sound like the voices are in a box, but otherwise 5.1 and 7.1 sound...

These headphones are hands down the best gaming set I have come across in about 3 years. Sound is crystal clear and the 7.1 surround feature is fantastic for games like CS:Source. You can adjust each speaker in 7.1 mode individually (including bass) The cord is a long enough length so that you can get up and do soemthing quickly without taking the headset off.
