Panacur (fenbendazole) is typically used to treat hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms in dogs. It is used by veterinarians to treat other parasites as well. It is available as 1Gm, 2Gm and 4Gm powder packets. The usual dose for dogs is one packet, based on weight, given once a day for 3 consecutive days. The medication can be mixed with a small amount of the animals usual food. Dry dog food may require slight moistening to allow for proper mixing.

Active ingredient is 22.2% fenbendazole, an FDA-approved wormer for dogs. Fenbendazole kills the parasite by disrupting its energy metabolism. Non-prescription formula (same as Panacur) contains 22.2% Fenbendazole for the treatment and control of roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms (Taenia) in dogs and puppies over 6 weeks of age. Package of three 1-gm packets treats 10-lb dog for 3 days; Package of three 2-gm packets treats 20-lb dog for 3 days; Package of three 4-gm packets treats 40-lb dog for 3 days. (One 1-gm packet and one 2-gm packet treat 30-lb dog for 1 day; One 1-gm packet and one 4-gm packet treat 50-lb dog for 1 day; etc.) Dosage: Weigh dog for the correct size packet. If weight is in-between the suggested dosing sizes, it is safe to use the next higher size. Mix one packet daily with a small amount of food for 3 days.
