An impressive wine whose exquisite perfume of black cherry, wild herbs, truffles, leather and minerals is exquisitely complex and compelling. Black raspberry flavors are fabulously concentrated on the palate with subtle undertones of leather and sweet tobacco. It’s perfectly structured with firm, velvety tannins, flawlessly balanced acidity and a finish that just doesn’t stop!

'The profound 2001 Palomero boasts an opaque ruby/purple color as well as an extraordinary perfume of sweet saddle leather, smoke, herbs, blackberries, creme de cassis, truffles, and graphite. One of the most prodigious Ribera del Dueros I have tasted, it offers great precision, fabulous concentration, and a long, 40+ second finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2016.'--Wine Advocate #159 (Jun 2005)

2001 Uvaguilera Ribera del Duero Palomero 750ML
Dark, full red. Raspberry, blackberry, graphite, violet, licorice, game and sexy oak tones of smoke and baking spices on the nose. Supple and sweet if a bit youthfully aggressive, with intense dark berry and coffee flavors complicated by spicy oak and a wild gamey nuance. Boasts very good palate presence and finishes with substantial tongue-clenching tannins and very good length.

93 points from Robert Parker! "The brilliant, similarly styled 1999 Palomero reveals the same aromatic profile as the 200, along witht he wonderful sweetness, expansiveness, uplift and length. Despite being a year older, it appears less evolved that the 2000." (4/2004)

'Only 40 cases of the 1999 Palomero Vendimia Seleccionada were produced. A selection of the finest barrels, it has everything found in the regular Palomero cuvee, just more of it. Consume it over the next 12-15 years.' -Wine Advocate #152 (Apr 2004)
