We called the winemaker and asked him to send us a new label, and he decided to give his name to the wine. Montecucco lies at altitude on top of a big ridge. There is always a strong wind coming east off the Mediterranean that serves to dry the grapes and prevent any rot. Ever since the Super Tuscan Sassicaia called attention to this region southwest of Chianti, a new generation of quality Maremma wines have been eagerly anticipated.
