The cloth patches are printed on fabric (usually a canvas type fabric), you can pin them, sew them, attatch them with spikes, etc. They will fray at the edges it they aren't treated, to avoid this you can do a few things. If you sew them on clothing the fraying will stop at the sew lines. If you fold the edges before you sew them it shouldn't fray at all.
