This family owned estate was founded in the late 60's when a Frenchman with a passion for wine planted French varietals along with the local indigenous grapes. Today the winery is ultra-modern and the high altitude vineyards are turning out best quality fruit. This wine is a unique blend of 70% Nero D'Avola and 30% Pinot Noir. "The estate's 2005 Nuar, an unusual blend of Nero d'Avola and Pinot Noir is remarkably successful. Fragrant aromatics lead to a core of sweet, almost-candied fruit as the wine reveals its delicate, understated personality. This, too, offers excellent length and lovely balance. Because Syrah is an early ripening grape, 80% of the cuvées were ripe and picked before the rains. Louis feels that the 2002 is as good as the excellent 2001. The wine is well-structured with deep color and pure, ripe fruit. more
