Lost City Angels' 2002 debut showed promise, even if it started repeating itself about halfway through. But what the Boston-based punk revivalists lack in songwriting depth they make up for in on-stage sweat, and lots of touring since the self-titled effort has hardened the edges of 2005's "Broken World". It's the band's first for a major -- the Universal imprint Stay Gold -- but LCA haven't broken out the checkbooks, synthesizers or session players. Aided by the veteran Boston production team of...

The Lost City Angels' eponymous debut is a hard album to view objectively. The group has an enthusiasm and sloppy reverence that is infectious, especially when it comes to punk-pop (which at times can be quite generic). But the songs aren't terribly memorable, instead consisting of momentum and energy instead of hooks and melodies. Some punk rock works fine with this equation, but by the end of the album one can't help but want more from this talented bunch. Glimpses of the bandmembers' potential...

Aside from cold, hard, cash - the next best thing to have is a piece of ass. So why not own the baddest ass on the block. This graphic tee from BHC has no comparison and represents not only the finest piece available but also the City we all love - or love to hate.

One disappointment was on “Billy Cole,” a folk/celtic ballad that features mandolins, accordions, piano, slide guitar, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. While the song is arranged beautifully, the story that is being told never really reaches a satisfying conclusion. It captures the listener by telling us about an abandoned boy who lost his parents early and a girl spoiled rotten by her parents and how they both grew up quite differently but both ended up as “lost souls.” The song continues on...

Soulfully Live in the City of Angels (CD/DVD)
Description During the 15 years following Deep Purple's initial split in 1976, singer/bassist Glenn Hughes issued albums on an extremely sporadic basis. Then came the early '90s (which saw Hughes get clean and sober), and the floodgates opened once more, as Hughes began feverishly making up for lost time -- issuing 17 albums between 1992 and 2005, both as a solo artist and as a collaborator with others (Joe Lynn Turner, Tony Iommi, etc.). Perhaps wanting to prove that he still possessed "live chops...
