The red litmus will turn blue when it comes into contact with an alkaline solution above pH 8.3. Supplied in plastic snapcap container, about 100 paper strips per container. Litmus paper is NOT used to determine the pH level of a solution. If you need to find out the pH level, the correct test paper to use is the pH paper.

These leaves a perfect for a quick test and offer a cheaper alternative to the more expensive and more precise pH indicator sticks, which give you the exact pH level. These in turn only determine is the solution is alkaline. When the leaf comes in contact with an alkaline solution it changes into a blue color, it's that simple.

Place a Litmus Strip under the tongue, wet and match it to the color chart to see your pH level. Your goal is to be an alkaline 7 to 7.5 pH. You are more alkaline in the morning and naturally more acidic at night.

Use these basic, inexpensive litmus papers as an way to gauge the pH of a solution or soil sample. Litmus papers are only a general test and can not give you an exact pH reading like our other pH tests or pH meter. Comes with a color chart that allows you to compare the color of the strip to 8 possible pH numbers from 3-10. To test soil, add 1 part distilled water to 1 part soil and test. Contains 200 strips.
