Richard the Lionheart is well known for defeating the tough third crusade in 1189-1192. He became legendary for this deed and indeed, he was a very courageous and a brave soldier. He was also the Duke of Aquitaine, Poitiers, and Normandy, and Count of Anjou. On Lionheart's trip back from the Holy Land, he was unfortunately captured in Vienna and had to pay a ransom.
