Don Tomasso is a blend of the estate’s best selection of Sangiovese (85%) and Merlot (15%). After a slow fermentation, the wine spends 18 months aging in new Allier oak barriques and a further 6 months in bottles. Compared to past examples, the 2003 is richer and more powerful since the estate is focused on developing Don Tommaso into a more robust and complex wine with a longer aging potential to challenge the finest Chianti Classico.
