Gay mates Renato and Zaza return in this sequel to the 1978 hit movie. When flamboyant, cross-dressing Zaza wants to prove to his lover Renato that he's still sexy, he goes to a restaurant to try to pick up a man. Composer Jerry Herman finds much greater depth in this French farce about a club for transvestites in St. Tropez than did the original play or the film, turning it into a virtual proclamation of gay pride ("I Am What I Am").
