The vertical lines that are distinguishable on the print are in fact the divisions of the original blocks since it was printed in sections that were then fitted together making up a mural sized art piece. As one of earliest colored representations of the Natives, “Les Sauvages” of the Pacific, the artist reveled in detail. The very size of the original did in fact allow intricacies that would likely not have been otherwise possible.
