The 2003 La Crau de Ma Mere CdP is classic Provencal wine. A huge peppery nose followed by tapenade notes interwoven with plum, cherry, and currant soar from the glass. In the mouth it is dense, heady, voluptous, with layers of fruit and a sumptuous, full-bodied, even blockbuster finish that is all silk. Drink over the next decade. RATED "92" Robert Parker

"The best of the group is the 2004 La Crau de Ma Mere, which is full-bodied, has more opulence, deeper fruit, but loads of black cherry and licorice notes intertwined with hints of seaweed, roasted herbs, and smoke. It is a real beauty. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. As I have written in the past, all three cuvees from Pere Pape are Provencal in their typicity. In short, they are up-front and delicious, with forward fruit and plenty of character/personality"

In addition, the Grenache stock in this wine is now 45 years of age. The yields are low but the quality is top. Once the grapes have fermented, the wine of la Crau is kept half in Tuns (1,000 liters casks...
