I bought this camera for an online class I was taking at the time. It was a real steal at about $100. The model I received was refurbished which may have been part of the problem. The battery life is horrible, especially if you're using the digital screen to take pics rather than the view finder. This past summer it completely shut down on me. It's great for taking general photos but not so reliable when trying to capture details. I recommend at least an 8MP model. I have a Sony CyberShot DSC...
