Unique art pottery vase by Danish artist Herluf Gottschalk-Olsen (1915-1968), probably from the mid 1950s. The waxy matte finish gives the piece a nice tactile quality. Size/Condition: Measures 9"x 2.5". Condition is excellent, no chips or cracks. Marked to the base with a hand painted...

Description : This vase was made in Safi, Morocco, a region that has made pottery for a very long time (and still does). The style is traditional, which makes it hard to date, but I believe its age is measured in decades and could well be circa 1900, just guessing. The decoration is all hand painted and fired. Height is about 14". In addition to "Safi" there's another marking on the bottom, but I can't translate it. It could be an artist's mark or may simply also say Safi.
