Hosta 'Mixed Seeds
Zones 3-9. Lightly cover seeds with seed mix and use 65-80 F, Germination in 10-20 days. The warmer the soil temp the faster the germination. Plants can be grown under 24 hour lights in the winter with very good results from a fall sowing. A very economical way to fill in a shady location with different and unique plants. Seeds are from a few hundred hybrid varieties, and leaf color and shape develops as the plants age, with seedlings nor showing there true potential until they are a few years old.

Individual leaves are broadly ovate and may be 5 or 6 inches in length and light green in color with a sheen overlaying the heavily veined surface. Flowers are in cymes above the foliage, yellow in color with brown spots. This is the first toad lily to bloom in my garden each year. Count on the flowers during mid to late June, into July. Mine is planted with hosta, false Solomon's seal, and lady ferns. Hardy...

Comments: Forms many seed pods. Is a very striking plant that should become a classic! Also called H. rectifolia 'Kinbuchi Tachi'. The only one we have been able to obtain that is true is from Benedict. The ones from Europe weren't the same plant.

Hosta 'Maraschino Cherry
Comments: This sport of H. 'Cherry Berry' grows rhizomatiously, meaning that it spreads by underground rhizomes, so make sure the eyes and dormant buds are completely buried about 1 to 2" below the soil. The tall scapes, petioles, and seed pods are all dark purplish-red and attract the most attention to this solid green but excellent growing hosta.

Many years ago, German plantsman Eugen Schleipfer found an Echinacea plant that looked very different than the others. Resulting from years of selection is a reliable seed strain with two-tiered flowers. A set of shorter petals rests on top of the cone while a "skirt" of longer, deep rose-pink petals emerge from the base of the cone. Hardy in Zones 3 to 8. 40" tall. Part Sun to Full Sun.

I have one that grew to 5 and 1/2 feet across that was by the pond and received 10 hours of full sun a day! When I dug it up, I was able to get 5 HUGE palnts from it still! Great grower form a great company that stands behind their products!

Sure to take the market by storm, this blanket flower is a breakthrough in gaillardia coloring! Rather than the typical bright red and yellow flowers, 'Oranges & Lemons' PPAF looks just like it sounds--large, peachy orange flowers with yellow tips and a gold central cone. The blue-green foliage enhances this warm coloring and the round, chartreuse seed heads extend the interest after the flowers are spent. Unlike many of the older selections, this one has an improved upright habit rather than sprawling...
