Hocus Pocus (Arabic DVD with English Subtitles)
Mostafaa, a high school philosophy teacher, sees his life turn upside down when the landlord decides to raise the rent. He fails to make a payment, and moves to a dilapidated cheap room on the building's roof, abandoned for years after being occupied by a black magician. Mostafaa's starts to experiment with black magic and falsely claims ability to communicate with demons and makes a fortune until he gets arrested for at the end, but he gets out of trouble using his tricks. The film follows the exploits of an Opera Troupe who seem to like nothing more than playing tricks on each other. Stephen Tung Wai plays Kuei, a bit part actor who is the main instigator of these pranks, but he's well liked by the crew anyway. It is at the start of the film that one of Kuei's pranks on a fellow opera player unwittingly unleashes a Wandering Ghost upon the academy. (Chin Yuet Sang, who also directed the film.) The troupe's imagination is stirred by Uncle Sheng's telling of the ghostly tale, and they begin to tell tales of their own, spooking each other out, and pulling elaborate pranks. Kuei is a minor actor in the troupe but he commands a lot of respect from the other small time players. The lead actor, Chin, is cocky and arrogant and generally disliked. Kuei and the other play a prank on chin, pretending to be ghosts after he gets back to the opera house late at night and drunk off his ass.
