The aromas of sweet cherry with hints of earth and mint. The flavors of cherries and black pepper mixed with light, toasty overtones from the oak aging, compliment the overall ambiance of this wine. The lingering, forward finish allows our Oregon Pinot Noir to be matched with a variety of dishes such as beef, lamb, duck and most fish, especially salmon. The fruit flavors were pronounced enough at bottling to give a true enjoyable Pinot Noir experience immediately as well.

The bouquet makes an initial impression that is dominated by bright black cherry fruit; as you return to the glass subtle notes of smoke and forest underbrush emerge to meld into the fruit. On the palate, fruit is again predominant, but underlying flavors of spice, leather and vanillin add complexity.

Umpqua Cuvee is a new label designation for our Pinot Noir family. This wine is fermented at a cooler than normal temperature to preserve the fruity character of the grapes. It then spends just a few months (usually about 5) in neutral oak barrels and is released a few months after bottling. This has resulted in a wine that is more forward in fruit and is more moderately priced. This wine is a good match with soft foods, cheeses, pesto sauces, pizza and pasta. Because the wine has no oak character...

2006 Windy Oaks Estate Pinot Noir “Henry’s Block” Schultze Family Vineyards, Santa Cruz Mountains. Jim and Judy Schultze are making some of the finest Pinot Noir you’ll ever taste from their tiny Estate in the South Santa Cruz Mountains and this one is just a dream like gem that offers flavors that seem more of a cross of Oregon and Burgundy that what you’d normally find in the central coast. The color is delicate and glows a light ruby in the glass, but the flavors and deep and the finish goes on...
