The wood of choice for ski lodge decks, marina docks, and landscape walks, treated lumber offers distinct advantages over other traditional outdoor materials. It is insect and rot resistant, it may be stained or painted (or left natural), and it's milled from a renewable resource: plantation grown southern pine. Our manufacturer uses heavy, one inch thick premium grade lumber kiln dried after it has been treated. Paints are latex enamel.

The Properties of Western Red Cedar: This chair and footrest are built of 5/4 cut western red cedar, which means the wood is a full 1-inch thick. This species of cedar has remarkable properties. It is lightweight and has an exceptional thermal coefficient -- even on hot days, it is cool to the touch. The bacteria and fungal resistance of the wood ensures long life. Most important, it is 80% the strength of oak, and is the most desirable wood for outdoor furniture.
