Intensely powerful and elegant aromas of white flowers, apricot, white peaches. The palate is fresh, round, rich and full-bodied. Fully expressive of the terroir with great finesse. A pleasant light acidity is well balanced with round, fleshy fruitiness.

Guigal 2007 Condrieu
Wine Spectator score 91 pts and said: "Very juicy and still a touch compact, with green almond, fig and anise notes waiting to come out from behind the fennel and mineral. Long finish. Cellar short term to let this open up. Best from 2009 through 2011."

"Really dense, with a massive core of white peach, fig, almond and Cavaillon melon notes carried by a remarkably creamy-textured palate. Long and pure through the finish, with mineral and floral notes waiting in reserve. Best from 2009 through 2014. 3,000 cases made."

"There are approximately 10,000 bottles of the luxury cuvee, the 2004 Condrieu La Doriane. One-hundred percent barrel-fermented and aged on its lees with routine batonnage, it exhibits intense mineral notes intermixed with honeysuckle, peach, and floral components. Although tight at present, it reveals immense intensity as well as potential. It should unfold in 6-12 months, and drink well for 5-6 years ... an unusually long life for Condrieu. 93 points, Wine Advocate."

Wine Advocate Guigal is the largest producer of Condrieu, and he continues to augment his production from this tiny appellation. His 2005 Condrieu La Doriane is one of the finest he has ever made. The wine is just spectacular and in 2005 went through 100% malolactic. The wine is sensationally rich with notes of crushed rocks, white peach, spring flowers, and some bee’s wax and tropical oils. Totally profound, with fabulous acidity, amazing richness and length, this is a stunner that should drink...

Fantastic, full-bodied white with a beautiful nose and bursting with flavor. Best with rich fish or seafood such as lobster. A little pricey, but justified given the small growing area (250 acres) and fussiness of the viognier grape. I wouldn't pay $80-$100 in a restaurant - if you can even find it - but the gratification of buying by the case is well worth the indulgence.

The Rhone's most special white wine is Condrieu, produced next to Cote Rotie, from the Viognier grape. It is fragrant, forward and delicious, perfect as aperitif, but with considerable body. Guigal buys grapes from numerous small growers in the area and produces about half of all the Condrieu appellation.

"2004 Condrieu (aged two-thirds in stainless steel and one-third in barrel) reveals crisp, underlying acidity that provides uplift and drama to the exotic honeysuckle, litchi, peach, and apricot characteristics. This medium to full-bodied, floral, dramatic white should drink well for 3-4 years."

"Pungent, pure aromas of pineapple, spring flowers and fresh herbs. Supple, sweet and silky in the mouth; rich but not at all heavy. Boasts good complexity."

"The powerful, fleshy 2003 Condrieu (two-thirds was aged in old oak and tank, and one-third in new oak) exhibits aromas of exotic fruits, peaches, lychee nuts, and apricots. Unctuously-textured with high alcohol (14.2%) and low acidity, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next 1-2 years."

"There are 15,000 bottles of the 2006 Condrieu la Doriane. With laser-like precision in addition to extraordinary notes of crushed rock, nectarine, marmalade, white peach, and spring flowers, it is a compelling Condrieu to enjoy over the next several years."
