Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar
I've always shied away from Historic Les Pauls in the past because they were too expensive for me. I always thought that the extra work and premium materials involved in a Historic was not worth the heftier price tag...but I was wrong. As far as custom shop Gibsons are concerned, you get what you pay for and then some. I recently purchased a 2006, VOS Goldtop Lightback, and have not been able to put it down since I got it. It's really what a joy to look at and play. I'll start with the specs...

Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar
This guitar is about as close to the 1956 Goldtop as a guitar can get. I was fortunate enough to play one at a Guitar Center and the guitar is amazing. The P-90's have their own distinct sound and it feels like your playing an original 56. Straight from the Gibson Custom Shop this guitar is in spottless condition and the feel of the VOS alone will drive you INSANE! THe playibility is great and it's not nearly as heavy as most people whine about. Let's see those people play a solid Mahogany Black...

This guitar is awesome!! I have a 54 goldtop s/n 4-5072 which I got at G.C. Fountain Valley ( bless you Nairo and Jeff!) I use this guitar in church and for playing blues and c/w. I used to have a 68 /69 goldtop Deluxe which I very much miss, but this is a very good quality axe. visually stunning with the finish and p/u's. Plays better than it looks, cool vintage case with cert of authenticity and all the goodies. I use this with a Fender Hot Rod Delux lacquered tweed with a Jensen p-12n Alinico...

Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Reissue Electric Guitar
I own this guitar and it is truly a work of art in both tone and appearance. I am a recording musician so tone is my most important criteria and this baby sings as pretty as she looks. The Gibson Custom Shop went back to the original 1957 specs and nailed it. The neck is true to the '50's style and is super fat giving the guitar even more sustain and warmth than any other Les Paul I own. The Dark Back gives the guitar a beautiful color contrast that makes the Goldtop finish shine even more than on...

Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Custom 3 Pickup VOS Electric Guitar
When Seth Lover introduced his amazing new humbucking pickups in 1957-exactly like the ones on this Gibson 1957 Les Paul Custom 3 Pickup "VOS"-Gibson decided the Custom would one-up the Standard by providing the option of 3 pickups. Featuring the classic carved mahogany top on a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany back with 1-piece mahogany neck with long tenon, it generates a warmer, friendlier tone than the standard. The finish is ebony just like the original and the VOS treatment gently ages it...

Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar with Case Antique Gold, Dark Back
The Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Standard Vintage Original Spec model is the next step in GibsonÂ’s journey toward perfection. Seth LoverÂ’s fabled Patent Applied For humbucking pickups were added to the Les Paul Model in 1957. These dual coil pickups, quieter yet more powerful than the single coil P90s that preceded them, combined with the ABR-1 bridge to create a guitar with unprecedented sustain and tone. The 1957 Goldtop is equipped with BurstBuckers to faithfully replicate the warm, vocal quality and rich harmonic content of the legendary originals. Custom Shop VOS Guitars Gibson has been producing solid body electric guitars for 55 years. Of course, the most famous of these guitars is the legendary Les Paul. In 2006 the Gibson Custom Shop released its Vintage Original Spec (VOS) series in honor of the instruments that have literally shaped the face of music today. The series consists of a 1956 Les Paul Gold Top; a Â’57 Les Paul Junior Singlecut; a Â’57 Gold Top in plain and darkback; Â’57 Cu

The body isn't chambered just for weight relief, although your back and shoulder will definitely appreciate it. Gibson uses a computer numeric controlled router to carve out carefully mapped areas that result in louder, more resonant guitars with increased sustain. The chambering is done before the maple top is put on, so there is no change in the guitar's rock solid appearance.

Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS Electric Guitar, Faded Tobacco
In 1959, the Les Paul Standard made a change to wider, fatter jumbo frets which made it a more facile guitar. The significance of this change wouldn't be felt until the late '60s when Clapton, Bloomfield, Peter Green, and other emerging guitarists discovered its warm, thick BurstBucker voice and fast, smooth and easy-playing neck. Then the Les Paul began its ascent toward ultimate icon status. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS is handcrafted for comfort and...

Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Standard VOS Electric Guitar, Faded Tobacco
In 1960 Gibson's Les Paul Standard still had the carved flamed maple top, sunburst finish, and "Patent Applied For" pickups of its predecessors, but a slim-tapered neck was added for a decidedly different feel. These final adjustments failed to save the Standard, however, and after 1960 the single cutaway Les Paul was replaced by the thin-bodied double-cutaway SG. This fabulous reissue captures the original line in its last days of glory. From bumble bee caps and CTS pots to the long neck tenon and gentle VOS...
