The portable friction mount holds your gps snug and can be left unlocked so that you can turn it to your desired position. It can also be locked in place so the part that holds your gps stays where you put it. The mount is heavy enough to stay where you put it on your dashboard. I used it this past weekend and it performed flawlessly. For California and Minnesota consumers it's illegal to attach anything to your windshield so this does the trick.
