(Bleeding Heart) Exquisite pure white flowers gently float above the grayish- green foliage of this petite 12 inch plant. Dicentra 'Ivory Hearts' has sweet, heart-shaped flowers and blooms from late spring into late summer. The flowers contrast nicely with the foliage and the compact habit performs well in containers and is also suitable for rock gardens.

Comments: Lengthy time in bloom in the shade, very adaptable to site if kept moist. Attractive foliage is retained throughout the growing season. It does not go dormant and die to the ground in summer as Dicentra spectabilis.

Unlike other fern-leaf bleeding hearts, Aurora 's foliage is blue-green, not silvery, which helps to set off the white flowers to their best advantage. Developed by a German grower, this long flowering cultivar made it across the ocean quickly and has been warmly welcomed in the States. With ample moisture this bleeding heart will bloom heavily in the spring, sporadically throughout the summer and then again with gusto in the fall. Mature plants are bushy, with finely cut leaves.
