Brown Ale in Southern England has traditionally been a bit sweet and low in gravity, while Brown Ale from the North has been stronger and drier in flavor. Our Brown Ale is modeled after the more hearty style of Brown Ale brewed in Northern England, and features a rich nut-like malt flavor and dark amber color lightly accented with English hops. Alcohol: 4.0%, IBU’s 25. Includes 7 lbs. of our blended malt extract, English Fuggle and Golding hops, 125 ml of liquid ale yeast, and corn sugar for carbonation...

Our English Brown Ale is a Northern English style version. The flavor is slightly sweet with toffee, chocolate and nutty notes. The color is a beautiful light brown with good clarity. English Fuggle and East Kent hops finish out the Engish flavor profile. Commercial examples of this beer style include Newcaste Brown Ale, Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale, etc.

Our English Brown Ale is lightly hopped, with a warm, malty character and smoothness of palate. It is medium to full bodied, with caramel overtones and a slight butterscotch (diacetyl) richness. Low to medium carbonation and head retention will not prohibit hearty quaffing of this medium brown beer. The nose exhibits a malty character, shared with traditional English hops. The alcohol content is slightly higher than that of a Mild Ale.

English Nut Brown Ale is very similar to English Brown Ale. It is deep brown in color, hopped slightly more for bitterness, but retains the same malty, smooth character. It is medium to full bodied, with a caramel richness. The carbonation level makes it very drinkable. The nutty attributes derived from victory malt and its toasted character differentiate this beer from the Brown Ale. Both versions will possess the malty aromatic nose characteristic of the style.
