Live At Montreux 1982 & 1985 (2CD) (Includes DVD), Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble: Wal-Mart CD Store
Vaughan was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1954. With a push from his older brother, Jimmie, he was playing the guitar by age 11. Garage bands and an occasional club gig interfered with schoolwork, so, at age 17, Stevie dropped out of high school to pursue music. Following a move to Austin, he played in a band called Nightcrawlers with his friend, Doyle Bramhall. A few years later, he joined the popular band, Cobras, and played Austin hotspots. In the mid-'70s, Triple Threat evolved from Triple Threat...

January 24, 2002: Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the many great guitarists in the world. He goes to the extremes with blues guitar on this album. There's not a single track that I skip over when I listen to it. Little Wing and Life By The Drop are the best songs on the album. I think the instrumentals are the better ones. Buy this one today! You'll love it.

August 08, 2009: Out of all of SRV's records "Couldn't Stand the Weather" is by far my favorite. Stevie Ray Vaughan is nothing but better on this album, if that is possible. Scuttle Buttin' is an amazing blues solo that you can just imagine him playing on stage with the guitar behind his back. Couldn't Stand the Weather is by far my favorite song he ever wrote. The song fades in with short blues lines before you get hit with a heavy, slightly distorted electric guitar, which he leads...

Stevie Ray Vaughan had always been a phenomenal guitarist, but prior to In Step , his songwriting was hit or miss. Even when he wrote a classic modern blues song, it was firmly within the genre's conventions; only on Soul to Soul 's exquisite soul-blues "Life Without You" did he attempt to stretch the boundaries of the form. As it turns out, that was the keynote for In Step , an album where Vaughan found his own songwriting voice, blending blues, soul, and rock in unique ways, and writing with startling...
