Deep ruby color in the glass. Intense nose of strawberries, bitter almond, tar, and licorice; an earthy aroma. After awhile it developed into more of a smoky herb profile. On the palate it had the somewhat dry tannins one would expect from a young wine, with a strong acidic spine and powerful mid-palate that developed into a long, sweet, creamy finish. This is an excellent food wine, particularly italian food, and really outstanding

Staff Review: Prime An excellent value from Italy. If you like Chianti (Sangiovese is the grape that comprises that wine), you will love this — and the price is right! Herbal and bright red fruit entices on the nose, with red raspberry springing to life on the palate. Nice, drawn out finish. This lighter style red will pair well with any of the less dense fare we find ourselves preferring in the hot weather — white meat anyone?
