Dancing River Chardonnay 2006
Some grapes like extremes, others like Chardonnay...not so much. It can take heat during the day, as long as it has a chance to cool off at night - fog, high elevations, cooling breezes can all do the trick. It's these kinds of conditions that ripened the grapes in the Dancing River Chardonnay, making it rich but not flabby, aromatic but focused. It gracefully layers tropical fruit notes of pineapple and mango with tarter notes of quince and pear. Then oak-aging steps in to soften the mouthfeel and...

Lovely, ripe melon and guava aromas lead to a full, round buttery palate. Not an oaky Chardonnay, but one bursting with ripe, sunny, Californian fruit. While Clarksburg may not be as familiar as Napa, it is known for producing perfect fruit from the Sacramento Valley cooled with fog from San Francisco bay, which helps the grapes retain their freshness and natural acidity.

Peter and Arpad Molnar grew up helping farm the family vineyard at the water’s edge in Carneros. Since the early 1970’s their chardonnay has been sold to well-known wineries (Phelps, Pride). This is the 3rd vintage of MF Chardonnay from Poseidon’s Vineyard and it is awesome. Gorgeous pear, apple, and sweet cream taste. Their other business in Hungary, a barrel cooperage, gives the wine a fully toasted finish. Swim fast salmon.

Las Almas Chardonnay-2006
The Casablanca Valley, north of the capital, Santiago, works like a vacuum, sucking in the cool air of the Pacific Ocean. For a long time Chilean winegrowers ignored the region, assuming it was too cool to ripen grapes for quality wines. Some experiments in the 1980s proved otherwise, and the region went on to establish itself as South America’s best source for elegant, complex white wines. Chardonnay does particularly well there, developing rich tropical fruit aromas without becoming fat and cloying...

Rich, yet crisp, try pairing our classic Columbia Valley Chardonnay with grilled chicken or creamy cheeses. Pineapple and cardamom aromas lead to more tropical flavors. Gentle stirring of the lees, oak barrel aging for 10 months and malolactic fermentation all contribute to the round mouthfeel and smooth finish.

Devil's Lair Margaret River Chardonnay 2006 (Australia) Rated 92WS
Pale straw with green hues. Bright and youthful. Aromas of pink grapefruit, pear, nectarine and wild flowers meld with subtle and complexing flinty undertones, with hints of cashew nut. There are lots of different elements, but all beautifully integrated. A very complex and harmonious bouquet. Citrus (pink grapefruit and lime), peach and pear flavors finish with persistent mineral acidity. The flavors start delicately in the mouth and build through to the finish. The palate is medium bodied and textural...

Opalescent pale yellow color accompanies a nose brightly scented with green apple and lemon meringue. The boldly-structured, full-bodied palate comes alive on the tongue in a harmonious weave of Asian pear and guava with exotic overtones of green tea and chamomile. A hint of honeysuckle complements the spice and flint that resonate through the lengthy finish.
