Domaine Du Tariquet 2007 Chardonnay Gascogne
Tasting Notes - A light and fruity barrel-fermented Chardonnay. The perfect party wine, with a nice mix of old- and new-world style. Subtle floral character with hints of vanilla. Some woody touches, fresh butter, hazelnut lead to a rich finish with some toasty tones. At its peak now; can keep for a few more years. The wine is refreshing on its own or with food; it is easy to see why Robert Parker called Yves ムone of the most talented winemakersメ of southern France.

Yves Grassa blended two of the white varietals planted in the area: Ugni blanc 65% and Colombard 35%, and he assembled them at cold temperature in stainless steel. After 5 months rest, he bottles them after a very coarse filtration. The final product is an unpretentious wine full of freshness, savor and fruitiness (and only 11% in alcohol!). Yves Grassa is not an unknown grower. He is also the maker of "Coté Tariquet", one of the best wines of the South of France. Robert Parker wrote in his...

A crisp and fruity (citrus, melon and peach) Sauvignon Blanc from the Southwest region of France. A distinctive bouquet with fine intense floral notes, some minerality, and the underlying suggestion of ripe grapes. Fresh and refined with an attractive intensity. A fine expression of Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is a delight. Quality grapes and a winemaker?s expert touch combined to reach new heights. The wine is full of fruit and refreshing on its own or with food; it is easy to see why Robert Parker...

Quincy (pronounced CAN-SEE) is located just west of the famous vineyards of Sancerre in the central Loire Valley. This tiny appellation lies in the shadow of its very large neighbor Sancerre, along the River Cher. It consists of only 250 acres of plateaux vineyards made up of old sand and gravel. This whole area of France was covered by an ancient ocean and the resulting limestone soils are ideal for Sauvignon Blanc cultivation. Here the vines receive minimal treatments so are nearly organic. A pneumatic...

2004 Banyuls “Rimage” Domaine du Mas Blanc The vineyards, planted primarily to Grenache, lie on terraced hillsides towering above the Mediterranean Sea just north of the Spanish border, baking in the summer sun to produce the late harvest grapes needed for the Banyuls, the dessert wine the appellation is famous for. Picked late and loaded with natural sugar, the Grenache is partially fermented and then fortified with a neutral alcohol. The result is a port-like dessert wine packed with thick, viscous...

High in the hills of the Corbières, in a stunning c orner of south west France, Domaine de Trillol has been the Sichel family property since 1990. Benjamin Sichel and Henri Guiot continue their many experiments with the aim of seeking the best possible quality, sometimes drawing techniques used in their great vintages of Bordeaux. At 400m above sea level, the vineyard is located in two of the Corbières terroirs: Termenès and Quéribus. Here the local grape varieties, Roussanne and Maccabeu (harvested...

This limestone-studded appellation in Southeast Loire Valley (just below Sancerre) makes wonderfully tangy Sauvignon Blanc wines, and this is particularly good! Orange zest, tangerine, sea salt nose. Tangy, zesty green apple & citrus flavors with creamy mouthfeel, full body (for Quincy) yet classic.

A wine for everyday drinking, blended mainly from Merlot (for fruit and structure) and Cinsault (for balance and length), with some Carignan, Syrah, Grenache or even Cabernet Sauvignon depending on the vintage. This medium-bodied wine should be drunk young (2-3 years) for its fruit, but some vintages have aged well. The name derives from the shape-changing Greek god.

Once, a long time ago, Domaine du Bagnol clearly stated their intention to take over the world. Having failed they settled for putting a crown on their label of soft, mineral driven, perfectly balanced wine. Sometimes we smell apricots on it.
