2003 Bouchard Pere et Fils Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay
Very pale, green-tinged color. Exotic aromas of lime, apple, coconut and oak char. Wonderfully superripe yet racy, with terrific verve. The juicy, penetrating flavors of lime, apple and minerals get the salivary glands pumping. A wine of superb class and thrust, and yet there's also major underlying fat for this grand cru. Finishes with palate-staining length and cut. The vines here run north-south, noted Hervet, and thus the fruit was not burned by the hot August sun. 93-96 points

Domaine Vincent Girardin can trace its roots back to the 17th century. It was originally located in Santenay in the Cote de Beaune, but in 2002 Girardin moved the winery to Meursault. He buys fruit from old-vine parcels up and down the Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune. Vincent Girardin has been hailed as the "golden boy" by Wine Spectator and has produced some of the finest wines coming from Burgundy, which has been noted vintage after vintage by wine critic Robert Parker.br

Aloxe-Corton is one of the most prestigious appellations in the Côte de Beaune. Several red Grand Cru are issued from this region and Corton-Renardes from Domaine dArdhuy is one of them. The vines for this wine are 40 years old and were grown in brown limestone soils. The grapes were hand-harvested, then the juice was fermented and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new).
