Cono Sur has positioned itself as the finest Pinot Noir producer out of South America and one of the finest in the Southern Hemisphere as well. The 2007 vintage for at least this varietal was pretty special and this particular bottle shows great promise with several years of great drinking ahead of it. Possessing some meatiness to the nose there is an underlying earthy, stem component to go along with some toast and spice and a mélange of darker red fruit aromas. Sweetly fruited on entry with dark...

- Located on the western coast of South America and bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Andes to the East, the Chilean wine-growing climate is similar to that of California's Napa Valley and Bordeaux. The Chilean wine industry is known for being consistently free of phylloxera, but political and economic unrest has brought its own source of disorder. The recent establishment of a free market has resuscitated the wine industry, and significant investments have been made, switching the...

Somewhere I read this was possibly a great value chilean pinot noir. It is a light pinot, and could have been a good choice for those who like a simple, affordable pinot. However, the slight but distinct metallic note I detected with each sip and swallow did not go away, even on the second day. I did not care for this and wonder if this bottle was tainted. Unitl I try it again, I have to be slightly dissappointed, even given its value pricing.

The bicycle on the label is not just symbolic. The workers actually ride to the vineyards on bikes! It's all organic. How about that, a healthy wine to drink to good health! In the world of Pinot, this is a real find and the price, frankly, unbeatable. A quality red with a lovely sweet, pure nose of raspberries and cherries, some sweet spice and a hint of sexy earthiness and flavor to match.
