Sunnyland Washboard
The history of the Columbus Washboard Company started in 1895 when Frederic Martin Sr. started building washboards in his backyard for resale. These washboards were handmade and had a limited market. Now they have a special appeal as a collectors item and as a great percussion instrument employed in old time music.

Our line of washboards are great for their traditional use scrubbing clothing, but they also make unique decorative pieces for laundry rooms, family rooms and kitchen walls. Wood workers have crafted one-of-a-kind items such as coffee tables, cabinets, magazine racks and other types of furniture using a washboard as a centerpiece. Each washboard is hand assembled of local pine, and the same machines used to stamp the washboards in the early twentieth century are still used today.
