Climbing Vine Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Sauvignon Blanc has a lot of personality - or even a lot of personalities, ranging from super- fruity and tart to mostly mineral to tropical and lush. Climbing Vine stakes out a middle ground, with some aspects of each. It’s got a good mix of minerality and fruit, but avoids the extremes - not too tart, not tropical, but a pleasing balance of fig, green apple and pear notes. It retains the crisp, light character that is often Sauvignon Blanc's most mouthwatering trait.

Small. Dense. Concentrated. Our vineyard isn’t the largest or highest yielding in the Napa Valley. But it is well loved. Because we know that all great wines start in the vineyard, our winemaker pays close attention to our vines. By managing this vineyard ourselves, we are able to control yields and farm for flavor. Less fruit from each vine. Smaller berries. More intense flavor. It all starts in the vineyard.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Grapes were sourced from eight estate and grower vineyards located in the Rapaura, Fairhall, Renwick and Brancott sub-regions of the Wairau Valley. Free draining, stony soils typify the Rapaura and Renwick areas whilst Fairhall and Brancott are predominantly fine alluvial loams containing some clay. The majority of fruit was grown on the divided Scott Henry trellis system with the exception of a small percentage of young vines.

The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a quintessential herbaceous nose with gooseberry and a touch of mango on the sharp, crisp, perhaps slightly raspy finish. Located in the suburbs of Auckland, Babich is one of the stalwarts of New Zealand viticulture since Dalmatian-born Josip Babich planted the first vines in 1912. Similar to Villa Maria, they are a large, family-owned enterprise, headed by Peter and Joe Babich who look after two wineries in Auckland and Marlborough (the latter co-owned.) Their...

First produced in 1993, Spring Mountain Sauvignon Blanc is reminiscent of fine White Graves. The grapes for this wine come from our Miravalle property, originally planted by Tiburcio Parrott in 1885. The current planting features budwood from Spottswoode Winery planted in the early 1980s. Miravalle is one of the warmest areas on the estate, which ensures fully ripened grapes. Aging in 50% new French oak adds a toasty vanilla richness along with a backbone that enables this wine to develop complexity...

Spice Route Sauvignon Blanc 2007 is aromatic and crisp, reflecting the decomposed granite soils where they come from with a touch of lively minerality. Coming from the Swartland area of South Africa, the vines experience cooling ocean breezes of the chilly Atlantic which helps to counter the otherwise hot days they can have. On the nose gooseberry comes to the fore, followed by lime and tropical fruit in the mouth with the faintest hint of asparagus, followed by a long racy finish.

Description: A farmer and miner, Yorkshireman Edwin Makereth, first planted vines in Avoca in 1887. At this time Italian viticultural expert, Romeo Bragato, further claimed the suitability of Avoca as a winegrowing district. He particularly noted the areas¹ good drainage and advised the planting of shiraz, pinot noir and mataro and encouraged several other farmers to establish small vineyards in the area. The Depression, World War II and the wool boom of the 1940s eventually saw the demise of the...

Our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc shows the strengths of a great vintage and the complexity of old vines and clones. The palate shows the weight of extended lees contact perfectly balanced by clean, vibrant acidity that lends length, persistence, and a stunning inner mouth perfume. Aromas of Anjou pear, grapefruit and wet stones remind you of how complex and serious a well made sauvignon blanc can be.

We firmly believe that there is no better producer of white wines in Oregon than Jay Sommers of J. Christopher Wines. There are only three sauvignon blanc producers of note in Oregon and only 35 acres of sauvignon blanc-producing vines in the state. So it really says something about Jay's talents as a winemaker that, though we are thoroughly impressed by all of the white wines that he makes, his sauvignon blanc is our favorite. What we like most about this wine is that it represents its own unique...

This 100% Sauvignon Blanc was made from grapes sourced exclusively from our three vineyards on the northern banks of the Awatere River, harvested between 29th March and 19th April 2004. This year saw the inclusion of grapes from our Willow Flat Vineyard in the blend for the first time, which came on stream this year. Viticultural input has been directed at maintaining low yields, averaging only nine tonnes per hectare, as well as achieving good vine balance to produce fruit that ripens uniformly...

Beringer Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2007
In 2003, Winemaker Laurie Hook chose to send the Sauvignon Blanc fruit directly to the press, by-passing the stemmer-crusher, to protect more of the varietals delicate aromas and flavors. She also fermented individual vineyard lots separately using different techniques to highlight various characteristics and bring more complexity to the wine. About 30 percent of the juice was barrel fermented and aged for five months in small, seasoned French oak barrels so soft spice and vanilla elements would...

Dog Point Vineyard is a collaboration between two former key staff members of Cloudy Bay, enologist James Healy and viticulturalist Ivan Sutherland. Both left Cloudy Bay at the end of 2003 and have produced their own wines from the 2002 vintage forward. The wines are hand-crafted from estate fruit grown on some of the oldest vines and best sites in Marlborough. Yields are low, and the grapes are hand-harvested. The winemaking is non-interventionist, and all the wines (with the exception of the...
