France; Robert Parker rated 91-93 points! The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition is a brilliant wine, dense ruby/purple with sweet black cherry and blackberry fruit as well as hints of licorice, lavender, and truffle. Concentrated, full-bodied, unctuously textured, with low acidity and ripe tannin, this beauty can be drunk upon release or cellared for 10-12 years. Sorry no discounts on this wine!

- Legendary wine-producing region in southeast France. Stereotypically speaking, Rhone wines are high in alcohol, and the majority produced is red. The northern Rhone is best known for outstanding 100% Syrah wines from areas such as Cote Rotie and Hermitage, as well as for fabulous white wines from Condrieu (where Viognier is king). In the southern Rhone, look for spicy, full-bodied wines that are blends of Grenache, Syrah, and other varietals coming from appellations such as Chateauneuf du Pape...

Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate There are 1,800 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Mon Aieul (100% tank-aged Grenache). It represents an awesome naked/virginal expression of Grenache from three vineyard parcels planted in sand, clay, and limestone soils. After tasting this wine on five separate occasions, I can state with certainty, it has the most saturated color of any Mon Aieul produced to date. Moreover, its perfume of blueberry liqueur, black raspberries, licorice, roasted meat...

2007 Pierre Usseglio & Fils Chateauneuf Du Pape Mon Aieul
The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Mon Aieul (100% Grenache) represents a naked expression of the three vineyards planted on sand, clay, and limestone. There are 1,700 cases of this 2007, which offers a surreal tasting experience. Soaring aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, licorice, roasted herbs, and grilled meats are followed by a wine of superb intensity, purity, multi-dimensions, and an endless finish. It should be drinkable when released, and age effortlessly for 15-20 years. It reminded...

France; Robert Parker rated 96-98 points! A star of the vintage is the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Mon Aieul. It is hard to believe how great this wine has turned out to be. I called it last year, and I’m thrilled to see how utterly profound it is. Essentially very old vine Grenache from three different terroirs (the sands of Les Serres, the clay of Guignasse, and the limestone of La Crau), aged 80% in cement tanks and 20% in old barrels, it boasts a dense plum/purple color followed by a glorious bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, truffles, lavender, licorice, and spring flowers. The color is one of the darkest of the vintage, and the wine is extremely full-bodied and rich with intense levels of extract and tannin, but the latter is gorgeously sweet and well-integrated. Still young and primary, this 2006 will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age, and drink well for 15-20. Sorry, no discounts on this wine!

Rated 91 - The brilliant 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape should not be overlooked (the 1998 and 2000 are drinking spectacularly well at present). A peppery, leathery, earthy effort with copious quantities of black cherries, this dense, full-bodied 2001 is surprisingly precocious by Usseglios standards. Nevertheless, 1-2 years of cellaring is warranted given the size and structure of this big, chewy, 75% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Syrah blend. It was aged in neutral wood foudres for 15-18 months. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2014. - Robert Parker - Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Chateauneuf Du Pape 2001 750ml France Rhone Valley Chateauneuf Du Pape -

The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah aged 100% in tank prior to being bottled. This wine always comes from the three best parcels of the estate Les Serres, La Crau, and Guignasse. This hugely concentrated, muscular wine is very powerful, excruciatingly tannic at present, but super-rich. Yields were a low 22 hectoliters per hectare because of the drought, and this blockbuster, muscular, virile style of wine needs at least 5-6 years of bottle age and should...

This is formidably dense and structured, with lots of fig paste and currant confiture, layered with espresso, bittersweet cocoa, bramble and hoisin sauce notes. The long, tarry finish really pounds it out authoritatively, with fruit and minerality to burn. Has the power of the previous vintages, but with far better definition. Best from 2009 through 2030. The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre and Cinsault, aged in tank (20%) and old wood foudres (80%), reveals classic Provencal typicity with its notes of sweet black cherries, lavender, licorice, roasted herbs, and meat. Soft and lush with a luxurious mouthfeel as well as a stunningly silky texture, this beauty can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years.

Shows the great embedded structure of the vintage, with a strong graphite undertow pushing the layers of blackberry, boysenberry and plum fruit, while additional sweet spice, mocha and bittersweet cocoa notes fill in the background Packed with fruit and terroir, with a gorgeous mouthfeel Best from 2008 through 2027 1,500 cases made Score: 96 -James Molesworth, October 31, 2007The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah aged 100% in tank prior to being bottled This wine always comes from the three best parcels of the estate - Les Serres, La Crau, and Guignasse This hugely concentrated, muscular wine is very powerful, excruciatingly tannic at present, but super-rich Yields were a low 22 hectoliters per hectare because of the drought, and this blockbuster, muscular, virile style of wine needs at least 5-6 years of bottle age and should keep for two-plus decades It is certainly a terrific Mon Aieul, but for those who are very patient This estate has been on an outrageous run of s

The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul, which spends 90% of its time in tank and 10% in old barrels, has turned out even better in bottle than it performed from cask. Basically 100% Grenache in 2004, this is clearly better than the 1999, which I own and drink frequently. It exhibits a deep ruby purple color and a wonderful sweet nose of black cherry, raspberry, licorice, spice box, and roasted herbs. Voluminous for a 2004, with full body, beautiful texture, a long, heady finish, and loads...
