This charming Carlton Ware dish in the "Buttercup" pattern, has wonderful detail. Made in Stoke on Trent, England, this piece is marked "Australian Design". Apparently many of the Carlton Ware designs were copied by companies in Japan. In order to protect their designs, Carlton Ware registered the patterns in Australia, which had a treaty with Japan which prohibited the unlicensed copying of their goods. This piece dates from the 1940's. It measures 7 inches across and is in excellent condition....

This Carlton Ware mug is just thing for a cynical relative. The mug is 3 3/4" tall and in good condition. There is a chip on the underside of the bottom that can only faintly be seen from the back. I believe it's a chop suey dish, used in a Chinese or other Oriental cuisine restaurant. It has a low pedestal base, elongated diamond shape, and measures 7*1/2" by 5-1/8" by 1-3/8" high. This is a cute porcelain cruet or condiment set made by Carlton Ware England in the 1950s including a leaf shape tray, salt, pepper and mustard. They all have gold trim. The tray, salt and pepper are in very good condition, but the mustard jar sustained a crack in the post from England where I bought it. See photo. A really cute set!
