In 1916, Don Santiago Toraño emigrated from Spain to Cuba. His new home, the Pinar del Rio region, grew tobacco without equal in the world, and Toraño dreamed of making his mark. Little did he know the heights to which he would build the family’s name in the premium cigar world. But in 2006, after 90 years, few cigar producers stand in the light Toraño does, in terms of origin, lineage and accomplishments.

the smoke has a light to medium body, and a very pleasing aroma. It has a sweet, spicy character that starts out slowly and builds as it warms up. Initially, the cigar is woody and earthy, and unlike many cedar wrapped cigars the flavor from cedar sleeve on the 1916 actually comes through and adds a slight hint of sweetness. The flavors are very easy going and perfectly subtle with an amazingly mellow smoke.
